INTELLO at Quesnay (16/07/15)

After two breeding seasons at Cheveley Park Stud, INTELLO (Galileo – Impressionnante) left England to arrive at Haras du Quesnay this morning, on Thursday, July 16th.
Intello is by GALILEO out of IMPRESSIONNANTE, a Gr.2 winner and Gr.1 placed daughter of DANEHILL. This cross proved to be successful as Intello is bred on similar lines to :
FRANKEL, 2000 Guineas Gr.1, International Stakes Gr.1, Champion Stakes Gr.1, Dewhurst Stakes Gr.1, Lockinge Stakes Gr.1, Queen Anne Stakes Gr.1, St James’s Palace Stakes Gr.1, Sussex Stakes Gr.1 (twice) ;
TEOFILO, Dewhurst Stakes Gr.1, National Stakes Gr.1 ;
GOLDEN LILAC, Poule d’Essai des Pouliches Gr.1, Prix de Diane Gr.1, Prix d’Ispahan Gr.1 ;
RODERIC O’CONNOR, Irish 2000 Guineas Gr.1 ;
MAYBE, Moyglare Stud Stakes Gr.1 ;
CIMA DE TRIOMPHE, Derby Italiano Gr.1 ...
Intello won six races and was placed three times in nine starts. Unbeaten in two starts at 2, he took the Feilden Stakes (L.) on his return at 3 before being unlucky with a third place in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr.1).  Then, he returned to winner’s circle in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr.1). This performance established him as the best 3-year-old colt in France. A month later, he displayed his speed and versatility by winning the Prix Messidor (Gr.3) over a mile before finishing third in the Prix Jacques Le Marois (Gr.1). Then he took the Prix du Prince d’Orange (Gr.3) as prep race to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) where he closed his career with a good third place behind the champion TRÊVE.
In his carreer, he beat 15 individual Gr.1 winners including DAWN APPROACH, OLYMPIC GLORY, DECLARATION OF WAR, HAVANA GOLD, MORANDI, LOCH GARMAN, ELUSIVE KATE, KIZUNA, AL KAZEEM, RULER OF THE WORLD, FLINTSHIRE, GOING SOMEWHERE, MEANDRE, LEADING LIGHT, JOSHUA TREE.
Intello got a very pleasant welcome from the breeders as he covered 139 mares in 2014 and 111 mares in 2015. In his first breeding season, he covered 22 Group winners (8 Gr.1), 17 dams of Group winners (5 Gr.1), 55 sisters to Group winners (24 Gr.1). He has his first foals this year and the feedback is very positive.
