Recoletos retired to Quesnay in 2019!

The leading older miler in Europe this year, Recoletos (Whipper) will be retired from racing to take up stallion duties at Haras du Quesnay. He will stand at a fee of €8000 live foal in 2019.

Trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias under the colours of his breeder and owner Dario Hinojosa, Recoletos is the winner of five Group races including two Group 1 races. He had a successful 2018 when taking the important Gr.1 Prix d'Isphan and Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp which are sire-making races, won by such as KingmamboHabitatHighest HonorRivermanCaro and more recently Charm Spirit. He also won the Gr.2 Prix du Muguet and was second in the Gr.1 Prix Jacques Le Marois. These nice performances make him as the leading older miler in Europe in 2018. Recoletos was also a standout à three. He was third in the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club after winning the Gr.2 Prix Greffule. He confirmed then by taking the Gr.3 Prix du Prince d'Orange.

Recoletos comes from a speedy branch of the Mr. Prospector sire line. His sire, Whipper, is by Miesque's Son, a brother to Kingmambo - both by Mr. Prospector and the mighty Miesque. His dam Highphar (Highest Honor) also produced Castellar (American Post), winner of the Gr.2 Prix de la Nonette and the Gr.3 Prix Cléôpatre this year. His grandam Pharatta (Fairy King) won the Gr.3 Prix de Sandringham over 1600m before taking the Gr.2 Garden City Handicap in the USA. She also was fourth in the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. She is a sister to four black-type winners. His third dam Sharata (Darshaan) is a sister to the Gr.1 Epsom and Irish Derby winner Shahrastani (Nijinsky).
